Frequently Asked Questions
Why Hire a Professional? - As simple as it looks to just buy some cheap face paint and splash it on the face, not everyone is going to be able to give a professional job. I have been painting for over six year and have painted thousands of faces. I use only top quality paints and equipment to produce top quality faces. With many hours of practice I am able to paint at a reasonable speed, which is what you need for little ones who don’t like sitting still for too long, it also means I am able to get through more faces.
What areas do you cover? - I am located on the Salt Lake City area. I can travel slightly further (Usually between Ogden and Provo) on special request, although it is not always possible. Be sure to give me plenty of notice and I will try my best to make it. There may be an extra cost for travel out of town.
What sort of face paint do you use? -All the paints that I use are high quality FDA Compliant cosmetic grade paints, designed for use on the skin. I use a combination of Snazaroo and TAG, as well as a bit of Diamond FX, Wolfe FX, Paradise and BenNye. All glitter is approved for cosmetic use and is safe around the eyes.
Why is it so important to use professional cosmetics? -"Non-Toxic" does not mean "safe for skin". Acrylic paints (AKA craft paints) are not meant to be used on the skin - nor are watercolor markers or pencils. Many people are allergic to the non-FDA approved chemicals and colorants used in craft paints and will break out in a rash when these paints are used. Watercolor/washable markers do not easily wash off skin - the term "washable" refers to their ability to wash off fabric easily, not skin. Professional-grade cosmetic face paints have been thoroughly tested. They are designed to be easy to work with, long lasting, comfortable to wear, vibrant and most importantly, they are safe!
Are The Paints Easy to Remove? -Most of the face paint should wash off with just warm water or a baby wipe. However, some colors can occasionally be a little tougher to remove. For this I recommend, rubbing a little, baby oil/tear free shampoo, make up remover, and washing off. I generally recommend washing off before going to bed, as some colors can rub off and may leave a slight mark on the pillow case.
How do you clean your face painting gear? - To keep everything clean and tidy I use baby wipes and hand sterilizer. Brushes and sponges are thoroughly rinsed between clients and sterilized and cleaned between parties. For health and safety reasons, I will not face paint anyone who appears to have a skin condition or any form of illness – instead maybe offering a neat arm design.
How many faces can you paint in an hour? - I can usually paint between 8 – 12 faces an hour, depending on the complexity of the design. For larger events I can cut back to very simple designs and could do up to 20 faces.
How can I pay you? - Payment can be made by cash on the day. No deposit is necessary, although adequate notice of any cancelations would be appreciated.
What do I need to supply? - I provide all of my own face paint and gear. I just need a small space to set up, with good lighting and cover from the sun on hot days or shelter from the wind and rain in bad weather, indoors or outdoor is fine. If you are able to provide a table and chair that is great otherwise I can provide my own.
Do you do charity events? - I love to help out where I can, talk to me and see what I can come up with to help you out.
Do you only do face painting? - No, I also do pregnant belly paintings, and can also paint parts of the body. I am always willing to try new things so don’t hesitate to ask if there is something specific you want done.
How do I make a booking? - The easiest way to make a booking is to email me at GledsCreations@gmail.com, as soon as you have an idea of a date, booking early is always best as I can book up fast. In the email it would be great if you could let us know the date and time of the event, the type of event and the location, and I will get back to you as soon as possible!
